Tool 01 / Agent API Tester

AI Agent API Tester: verify the endpoint first, then wire Hermes, Codex, and Cline.

This tool does two things: it checks that your Base URL, API key, and model name actually work, and it tells you which client (Hermes / OpenClaw / Cline / Roo Code / Cherry Studio) this combination is best suited for.

Recommended order: hit /models first to confirm auth is fine, then run a short /chat/completions call to confirm the model name and the response chain. This is the fastest way to catch 401, 404, model not found, a doubled /v1/v1, or a half-copied key.

Step 1

Enter the test parameters

Defaults to the MonkeyAI customer endpoint. Don't accidentally type /v1/v1.
Your key is not stored. Requests are sent from your browser only.
Use a model name that actually appears in your dashboard.
Results will appear here. On success, you'll get the next step and the right config to copy. On failure, you'll see the most common fixes.
Step 2

After the test passes, what to do next

Hermes / OpenClaw
Follow the custom OpenAI-compatible provider guide in the Agent setup center. Before changing the active model or provider, verify the API works directly and then restart the gateway.
Cline / Roo Code / Cherry Studio
These clients accept OpenAI-compatible endpoints directly. Set Base URL to https://monkeytheme.com/v1, paste the sk-... key from your dashboard, and use a real model name.
Codex CLI
Codex works best when it is wired in through config files and environment variables. Confirm your CLI version matches the integration guide, then copy an example from the config generator.
Claude Code
Claude Code is built around the Anthropic Messages protocol. If you only want Claude models, prefer Cline or Roo Code with the OpenAI-compatible endpoint instead.
Troubleshooting

The 5 most common failures

  1. 401 unauthorized: the key was copied incompletely, has stray spaces, or belongs to the wrong account.
  2. 404 / wrong path: Base URL was set to https://monkeytheme.com while the client appends another /v1, or you typed /v1/v1 by hand.
  3. model not found: the model name isn't actually for sale in your account. Check the public pricing page or hit /v1/models for the real list.
  4. CORS / browser block: cross-origin endpoints may be blocked by your browser. Switch to curl or a small Python script to verify.
  5. Claude Code can't connect: almost always a protocol mismatch, not a broken key.
